Content Guidelines
These guidelines apply to every article on BravoTech: staff articles, expert contributions, and sponsored content. We hold all of them to the same standard.
BravoTech publishes tested guides to cloud storage and productivity software for individuals and small teams in the US. Our readers want clear answers that they can act on, written by people who have actually used the product.
Topics we cover
- Core: cloud storage and backup; productivity and office software
- Supporting: everyday apps and utilities; writing, SEO, and content tools; security and privacy for small teams
We don’t publish general business, marketing, lifestyle, sports, gaming, finance, or news content. If you’re not sure whether your idea fits, pitch it first and we’ll tell you.
Our quality standard
First-hand experience
- Base every review, comparison, or how-to on your own use of the product.
- State the plan tier, device, operating system and version, and the date you tested.
- In comparisons, test the same task on each product. For example, upload the same folder, share it with an outside user, and restore a deleted file.
- Keep a short test log of the steps, the results, and anything that broke. Our editor may ask to see it.
Original screenshots
- Include at least 3 screenshots in a how-to and at least 5 in a review. Take them yourself.
- Annotate screenshots where it helps, and write descriptive alt text for each image.
- Don’t use stock images in the body. Use vendor images only when they’re necessary, and credit them.
Answer first
Open with a 2 to 4 sentence answer or verdict. Then give the detail, steps, and evidence.
Sources
- Link every price, storage limit, and spec to the vendor’s official pricing or support page, and note the date you checked it.
- Link security claims to vendor security documentation, CISA, NIST, or the original research.
- Every statistic needs a source. If you can’t source it, leave it out.
US focus
Use US English, USD prices, US plan names, and US date and number formats. Note when a feature or plan isn’t available in the US.
Clear, useful writing
- Every paragraph should contain a fact, a step, a judgment, or an experience.
- Use H2 and H3 headings, short paragraphs, and lists for steps.
- Skip generic introductions (“In today’s digital world…”), filler, invented pros and cons, and claims such as “the best ever” that you can’t verify.
Use of AI tools
You may use AI tools to help you outline, check grammar, or summarize your own test notes. Don’t use them to generate claims, reviews, experiences, or statistics. You are responsible for every statement in the article, and you must be able to back it up.
Originality
- Your article must be original and unpublished, and it must not be syndicated anywhere else, including on your own site.
- Don’t submit content that has been copied, spun, or lightly rewritten.
- Only use images you own or have the right to use, and credit them where required.
Links
- Source links: link to sources that support a specific claim, such as official documentation, pricing pages, standards bodies, or original research.
- Expert contributors: you may include one link to your own site or profile, in your author bio. It carries
rel="nofollow". We may also link to your work in the body if our editor decides it is the best source for a claim. - Sponsored content: you may include up to 2 links to the sponsor. Both carry
rel="sponsored". See the Contributor & Sponsored Content Policy. - Anchor text: use descriptive, natural anchor text. We remove keyword-stuffed anchors.
- What we remove: affiliate links that you added, lead-generation links, links unrelated to the topic, and links to sites in the categories we don’t accept.
Author bio
Every contributor needs:
- your real name and a photo
- your current role and company
- 2 to 3 lines of relevant experience (for example, “Manages Google Workspace for a 40-person agency since 2019”)
- a LinkedIn profile or another public professional profile
We don’t publish pen names, agency accounts, or bios that read like an advertisement.
Editing and review
- Our editor reviews every article before we publish it. We check facts, sources, screenshots, links, and disclosures.
- We may edit for accuracy, clarity, length, structure, headings, and titles. If we make substantial changes, we’ll send you the edited draft before we publish.
- We may ask you to revise the article, or we may decline it at any stage, including after we’ve accepted the pitch.
- Reviews and comparisons show a “Reviewed by” line with the editor’s name.
After publication
- Articles show a “Published” date, and a “Last updated” date when they’re updated.
- We update articles when prices, plans, or features change. We may ask you to retest, or we may update the article ourselves.
- To request a correction, email [email protected] with the article URL and the change you’re requesting.
- We may update, noindex, or remove any article that becomes inaccurate or no longer meets these guidelines.
