Contributor & Sponsored Content Policy

This page explains how BravoTech handles articles written by people outside our team, and articles that a company has paid for. Our aim is simple: readers should always know who wrote an article and whether someone paid for it, and every article should be worth reading on its own merits.

How we’re funded

BravoTech is funded by our content writing and SEO services and clearly labeled sponsored content. Advertisers and sponsors don’t influence our reviews, rankings, or recommendations. When money, free products, or other value is involved, we say so on the page.

Types of content we publish

Staff content

Our editors write and test staff articles. We pick the products we cover, and companies can’t pay to be included or to change our verdicts.

Expert contributions

These are unpaid articles by practitioners with first-hand experience of the topic. Nobody pays BravoTech to publish them, and we don’t pay contributors for them.

  • Real authors only. Contributors publish under their real name, with a photo, a bio that shows relevant experience and credentials, and a public professional profile such as LinkedIn.
  • First-hand experience. The article must be based on the author’s own use of the products or own work on the task.
  • Links. Contributors may include one link to their own site, in the bio, with rel="nofollow". Our editor may also cite the contributor’s work in the body when it’s the best source for a claim. Contributors can’t ask for links, and they don’t control links.
  • No hidden payments. If a contributor or their employer is paid by a company named in the article, the contributor must tell us. We then treat the article as sponsored.

A sponsored article is any article where BravoTech receives payment, free products or services, or a link exchange in return for publishing it.

  • Always labeled. Every sponsored article shows a “Sponsored” label at the top of the page and starts with the line: “Disclosure: This is a sponsored post.”
  • Links carry rel="sponsored". This applies to every link to the sponsor, or to any page the sponsor asked us to include.
  • Link limit. An article may contain no more than 2 sponsor links, with descriptive, natural anchor text. We don’t accept keyword-stuffed anchors.
  • Topic fit. The article must fit one of our topics: cloud storage and backup, productivity and office software, everyday apps and utilities, writing, SEO and content tools, or security and privacy for small teams.
  • Real substance. The article must help a reader with a real question. It must stand on its own if you remove the links. We don’t publish link-only articles, thin listicles, or articles written mainly to hold a link.
  • Sources. Claims, prices, specs, and statistics must link to credible sources, such as official vendor pages, standards bodies, or original research.
  • Same editorial standard. Sponsored articles follow our Content Guidelines, use the same templates, and are reviewed by a named editor.
  • Editorial control. We may edit sponsored content for accuracy, clarity, and fit. We may ask for changes, and we may reject an article at any stage. Payment doesn’t guarantee publication, rankings, traffic, or indexing.

Topics we don’t accept

We don’t accept contributions or sponsored content about the following, whatever the angle:

  • gambling, casinos, betting, sweepstakes casinos, and crypto casinos
  • loans, payday loans, and debt or credit offers
  • cryptocurrency trading, investing, and “get rich” schemes
  • CBD, cannabis, vapes, and similar products
  • adult content and adult dating
  • piracy, streaming or download sites for copyrighted content, and cracked or modded software, keys, or activators
  • fake generators (for example, credit card or gift card generators), spyware, and covert monitoring tools
  • “unblocked” games, and tools that bypass school or workplace controls
  • “Top companies in [country or city]” lists and other directory-style placements
  • topics outside our five topic areas

We follow Google’s spam policies because they protect readers, our site, and the sites that work with us. In practice, these two policies mean:

Google doesn’t want people to buy or swap links to influence search rankings. Paid links are allowed, but they must be marked so that they don’t pass ranking credit. Google asks publishers to use rel="sponsored" on paid links, and rel="nofollow" or rel="ugc" on links that the site doesn’t vouch for (how to qualify outbound links). This is why we don’t sell do-follow links, and why every sponsor link on BravoTech carries rel="sponsored".

Site reputation abuse

Google takes action against sites that publish third-party content mainly to benefit from the host site’s search reputation. Examples include unrelated coupon, casino, or loan pages on a news site, or pages added with little involvement from the site’s own team. This is why we only publish content that fits our topics, why every piece is edited by our team, and why we decline articles whose main purpose is to rank or to hold a link.

How to submit

There is no open or self-serve publishing on BravoTech. Every article starts with a pitch.

  1. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Pitch: [working title]” or “Sponsored pitch: [working title]”. Follow the checklist on our Write for Us page.
  2. We reply within 3 to 5 business days.
  3. If we accept the pitch, we agree the brief, the links, and, for sponsored content, the terms.
  4. Our editor reviews the draft, then edits, asks for changes, or declines it.
  5. We publish with the correct byline, labels, and link attributes.

After publication

  • We keep a record of every contributed and sponsored article, including its links and their attributes.
  • We may update, noindex, or remove any article, or change any link, if it becomes inaccurate, if a linked page changes or breaks, or if the article no longer meets this policy. We don’t promise that an article or link will stay live permanently.
  • Sponsors and contributors can’t ask us to remove a disclosure or change a link attribute.
