US Cloud Storage Price and Free-Tier Tracker (Updated Monthly)

No affiliate links or sponsorship, and BravoTech isn’t affiliated with any provider listed. Every price below was copied from the provider’s official US pricing or help page on October 18, 2026, with a source link on each row. Where a price wasn’t shown clearly on the official page, we wrote “see vendor pricing” instead of guessing. No hands-on testing.

Quick answer

This cloud storage price tracker lists the free tiers and US prices of nine services, checked on October 18, 2026: MEGA (20 GB) and Google (15 GB, shared with Gmail and Photos) have the largest free tiers, and iCloud+ 50 GB at $0.99 a month is the cheapest paid plan. At around 2 TB, iCloud+ ($9.99 a month) and Dropbox Plus ($9.99 a month billed yearly) cost the same, and Microsoft 365 Family includes 2 TB shared by up to six people for $129.99 a year. We re-check prices every month and log changes below.

Key takeaways

  • Prices checked on October 18, 2026, from official pages only, with a source link per row.
  • Largest free tiers: MEGA 20 GB, Google 15 GB (shared with Gmail and Photos), Box 10 GB, pCloud up to 10 GB.
  • Smallest free tier: Dropbox Basic at 2 GB.
  • Cheapest entry plans: iCloud+ 50 GB $0.99/mo, Google One 100 GB $1.99/mo, Microsoft 365 Basic 100 GB $1.99/mo ($19.99/yr).
  • Recent change: Microsoft’s storage FAQ says new Family and Premium subscribers get 2 TB of shared storage from October 8, 2026; existing subscribers switch at renewal from May 2, 2027.

Our take

Under 50 GB: a free tier may be enough. Google’s 15 GB is the most useful if you already use Gmail; MEGA’s 20 GB is the largest.

A household: Microsoft 365 Family (2 TB shared, up to six people, $129.99 a year) or a shared iCloud+ or Google One plan.

Privacy first: Proton Drive and Sync.com describe themselves as end-to-end encrypted; compare their prices in the table and read the renewal terms.

How we collect prices

Each row comes from the provider’s own pricing or help page, opened on October 18, 2026 (PKT). We recorded the US price exactly as shown, including whether it’s billed monthly or yearly. When a page loaded prices only through scripts we couldn’t read, showed a different currency, or didn’t show a price at all, we wrote “see vendor pricing”. We don’t estimate, and we don’t include reseller or coupon prices.

Free cloud storage tiers compared

Free tiers range from 2 GB (Dropbox) to 20 GB (MEGA), and the fine print matters more than the headline number.

Running out of free space is the most common reason people start paying. If that’s you on Google, see Google Drive storage full? before you upgrade; you may be able to clear Gmail and Photos first.

What 2 TB of cloud storage costs

2 TB is the most common “upgrade” size. At list price it costs about $10 a month from Apple and Dropbox, and less per person on shared family plans.

PlanPriceAbout per monthWho can use it
iCloud+ 2 TB$9.99/mo$9.99Share with up to 5 other family members
Dropbox Plus$9.99/mo billed yearly$9.991 person

Per-month figures for annual plans are the yearly price divided by 12. Sources: Apple, Dropbox, Microsoft, Proton, pCloud, Google One. Checked October 18, 2026.

Bundles change the math. Microsoft 365 plans include the Office apps, Google’s AI plans include Gemini features, and Proton Unlimited includes Proton VPN. If you only want storage, compare the storage-only tiers. For a fuller buying guide, see our cloud storage guide.

Provider notes and fine print

Things the price table can’t show.

  • Apple: some US states add tax to iCloud+, and plans can be shared with up to five other family members (Apple Support). For iPhone owners deciding between Apple and Google, see iCloud vs Google Drive.
  • Google: the free 15 GB is included in each plan’s total, and plans from Basic up can be shared with up to 5 others (Google One). If you stay over quota for 2 years or more, Google may remove content after at least 3 months’ notice (Google One Help). More in What is Google Drive?.
  • Microsoft: from October 8, 2026, new Family and Premium subscribers get 2 TB shared, and existing Family and Premium subscribers switch at renewal from May 2, 2027. Basic and Personal can’t be shared. Over quota, OneDrive becomes read-only, and files may be deleted after six months (Microsoft Support). The FAQ also mentions a Pro plan with 5 TB shared for new subscribers; the US plans page we checked didn’t show its price, so see vendor pricing. Our What is OneDrive? explainer covers the basics.
  • Dropbox: Plus includes a 30-day restore window and 50 GB transfers; Standard and Advanced are team plans priced per user (Dropbox). See What is Dropbox? and Dropbox vs Google Drive.
  • Box: business plans have a 3-user minimum, and Business Starter supports up to 10 users (Box).
  • MEGA: paid plans are charged in euros, so the US price depends on the exchange rate (MEGA).
  • Sync.com: the pricing page showed a first-year discount that renews at the regular price, and Sync’s help center says cancelling a paid plan closes the account rather than downgrading it to free (Sync.com, Sync.com Help).
  • pCloud: lifetime plans are a one-time payment, and the prices we saw were discounted from a higher list price. The Family plan is lifetime-only (pCloud Help). Our pCloud review has more on the service.

How we track prices

We re-check every row once a month, plus whenever a provider announces a change. Each check uses the same official pages listed in the Sources section, viewed as a US visitor where possible.

  • A price only changes in this tracker when the official page changes.
  • Promotional prices are labeled as promotional, with the list price next to them.
  • Rows we can’t verify stay as “see vendor pricing” until we can.
  • Every change gets a dated line in the price changelog below.

Price changelog

  • October 18, 2026: First edition. Baseline US prices and free tiers recorded for Apple iCloud+, Google One, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, MEGA, Proton Drive, Sync.com, and pCloud. Noted Microsoft’s 2 TB shared storage for new Family and Premium subscribers (from October 8, 2026). Box Personal Pro, MEGA Pro, pCloud annual, and Dropbox monthly-billing prices marked “see vendor pricing”.

FAQ

Which cloud storage has the biggest free plan?

Of the services we track, MEGA offers the most free storage at 20 GB, followed by Google at 15 GB, which is shared across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. Box and pCloud offer up to 10 GB. Checked October 18, 2026.

What is the cheapest cloud storage per month?

iCloud+ 50 GB at $0.99 a month is the cheapest paid plan we track. For 100 GB, Google One Basic and Microsoft 365 Basic both cost $1.99 a month, and Microsoft’s Basic plan is $19.99 a year if you pay annually.

How much does 2 TB of cloud storage cost?

At US list prices on October 18, 2026: iCloud+ 2 TB is $9.99 a month, Dropbox Plus is $9.99 a month billed yearly, and Microsoft 365 Family is $129.99 a year with 2 TB shared by up to six people.

Are lifetime cloud storage plans worth it?

They can be if you’ll use the service for many years, but you pay everything up front. pCloud’s lifetime 2 TB plan was $499 one-time on October 18, 2026, a promotional price. Compare it with several years of a monthly plan and consider the company’s long-term outlook.

How often is this tracker updated?

We re-check every price monthly against the provider’s official page and log each change with a date in the price changelog.

Why do some rows say “see vendor pricing”?

Because the official page didn’t show a clear US price when we checked, for example when prices load only through scripts, appear in another currency, or aren’t listed. We’d rather send you to the source than guess.
